Animals and Us, are more than just an animal shelter; they are a lifeline for furry friends with nowhere else to turn. With nearly 400 dogs, 90 cats, and countless strays on the streets, their mission is clear: to provide love, care, and shelter to every animal in need.
Michelle, a dedicated primary school teacher, leads the charge, balancing her full-time job with the tireless efforts of running the shelter. Supported by a small team of volunteers, Michelle pours her heart and soul into rescuing, caring for, and finding forever homes for these precious animals.
Their journey began with humble beginnings, starting with Michelle's courageous decision to rent a warehouse in 2016 and transform it into a sanctuary for animals in need. From housing animals in her own home to creating a fully-fledged shelter, Michelle's determination knows no bounds.
But their work doesn't stop there. Animals and Us are on a mission to tackle the root causes of animal suffering through their rescue, medical treatment, rehoming, and Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) programs. They believe that every animal deserves a chance at a better life, and they spare no effort in making that a reality.
Their efforts haven't gone unnoticed. In November 2021, Michelle was honored with the Outstanding Contribution to Animal Welfare Award at the Animalia Awards, a testament to her unwavering dedication and passion.
